Do NOT use Sandro Antezana!! He’s very polite at first but that’s just an act. And he always had some sob story why he couldn’t work one week (son was sick, he waited till last day of month to get car tags inspected, had some appt, etc). He’ll come recommended because he has an old letter from doing work for Newt Gingrich years ago, and because he’ll be cheaper than most. But that’s because he has NO insurance, so you have to cover him. He tried to tell me his friend can cover him but he doesn’t work for him and doesn’t have a company or a contract, so that’s a lie. When pressed, he admitted he has no insurance for his work done, damages, or injury - - NOT good. So if work is faulty or he gets hurt, YOU’RE screwed. My landlords hired him to do some handyman work in early June and it took him more than THREE months to finish, which was crazy. It was mainly repairing any rotted wood on exterior window frames and then painting them all to match. And yes, it rained a lot this summer. But it took him THREE months. There were plenty of nice days where he didn’t show up and I texted him, asking where he was. That’s THREE months of us dealing with him in and out, of his truck in our driveway (in front of our garage, blocking our cars, after being asked not to, which should’ve been common sense), of his supplies littering our yard and deck, and three months of not being able to use our deck or lower patio (all summer! 😡). He worked mostly alone, came and went as he pleased and often without warning (and wouldn’’t show up on the only day during a week that was nice because he “had appts”), his work was sloppy until we checked and made him fix a lot of it, he started work for my neighbor before done with my house, and he got aggressive when we asked questions. Wife had to stay on top of him daily to try to keep him on task and to his schedule. He kept changing what he still needed to finish and fix, so she took photos and made a dated “to-do” list finally. It was frustrating and exhausting. Irritating was his doing work that wasn’t paid for, in an attempt to make up for how long he was taking, I guess. He power washed our front sidewalk and porch, and kept telling us how he wasn’t getting paid for it but wanted to make it look nice for us. But we just wanted him to use that 1.5 days to finish the actual job! He made a big point of pointing out his “extra touches” that he did (sealed outside windows with caulking, for example), but they always made himself more work. Example is he used dark gray instead of white or clear caulking so he had to go back around entire house and slopped paint all over caulking and sills, then argued with wife that they didn’t make the right caulk in white (crap because we have it in garage) and that you can’t make the caulk look nice and smooth (crap because my wife offered him our own little tool that does just that but he refused). He was a nightmare! You get what you pay for. Way cheaper is usually not better!! We finally let him “be done” just to get rid of him and because it was obvious it was “as good as he could do.” We walked our landlords around and then they dealt with him on their own (don’t now if less money paid or not, etc). We have lots of photos if you want to see them. Sorry for the long post but it was a long summer with him!! 2018-10-09 04:51:52 |
